Positive Lifestyle Program

The Salvation Army's Positive Lifestyle Program is a fully supported eight module course that helps you gain a deeper understanding of who you are as a person.

With the program covering a wide range of topics, including:

- Self-awareness,

- anger,

- depression and loneliness,

- stress,

- grief and loss,

- assertiveness,

- self-esteem,

- future directions;

The Positive Lifestyle Program helps empower people to change their way of life and reach their true potential.

This program is offered at Salvation Army offices located in Marion, Murray Bridge, Noarlunga, Port Augusta and Victor Harbor.

TAFE SA - Hair & Beauty Salon

TAFE SA provides hair and beauty salon services that are open to the public. Students and apprentices practice their skills under supervision in well-equipped salons, providing hair, nail, tanning, waxing, facial and massage services at very reasonable prices. For more information, check out the price list.

Salons available in Adelaide, Elizabeth, Mount Gambier, Noarlunga and Whyalla.

Get Healthy Service

The Get Healthy Service is a free information and coaching service to support people to make lifestyle changes regarding healthy eating, physical activity and how to reach and maintain a healthy weight. The service provides confidential telephone counselling with a personal qualified coach and a website with helpful advice and tips.

The service is available to South Australian adults whose health is at risk due to one or more of the following:

- Not eating a healthy diet

- Insufficient physical activity

- Being overweight

FriendLine

FriendLine is a phone based support line available to anyone over the age of 18, in need of a friendly chat. There is also an online chat service available if you are unable to make a call.

All conversations are with trained volunteers and calls are anonymous and confidential.

If you're seeking help, you can join the program by visiting their website and filling out the contact form, or by reaching out to their team directly. Once connected, you'll be carefully matched with Sharing Family who has experienced similar challenges and successfully navigated through them. Together, you'll collaborate on creating a tailored plan to overcome your difficulties, develop new skills, and build a strong support network, ultimately leading to a more stable and fulfilling family life.

Family by Family is a community-driven support program designed to help South Australian families overcome challenges and achieve positive change. By connecting families in need (Seeking Families) with families who have overcome similar challenges (Sharing Families), the program fosters mutual learning, guidance, and support. Through this family-to-family mentoring approach, Family By Family empowers participants to build resilience, develop essential skills, and create lasting connections within their communities.

Telecross - A phone call each day to check you're OK

Red Cross provide a daily telephone call to check on your wellbeing. The calls provides reassurance as well as help to maintain your independence.

This service supports people who live alone and are at risk of an accident or illness that may go unnoticed, in particular, people who are fail, aged, have a disability, housebound or are recovering from an illness or accident.

To access this service call Red Cross on 1300 885 698 or this service is available through both the National Disability and Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and My Aged Care.

Parkrun Australia

Parkrun organises free, weekly, 5km timed runs around South Australia. They are open to everyone, safe and easy to take part in.

These events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and they encourage people of every ability to take part; from walkers or those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experienced; you are all welcome.

Look for a Parkrun location near you by visiting the website link. You can register online and take your barcode for scanning on the day.

Most agree that keeping fit is a good way to deal with stress, doing it for free makes it even less stressful.
