Grandcarers SA are committed to supporting grandparents and kinship carers to conquer their challenges while providing a safe and nourishing environment for the children in their care.
They aim to provide comprehensive support through financial assistance, personal support, information provision and advocacy.
Their support includes:
Individual Support
- Confidential support and information to Grandcarers through their telephone helpline and face-to-face meetings.
- Personalised and practical advice tailored for each family, with the child’s best interest at its core.
- Personal referrals to other agencies that support grandparents and kinship carers in navigating financial issues, child protection, and legal systems.
Grandcarers SA Village Program
- This program enables their team to provide grandparents and kinship carers of children a safe space to meet and share challenges, explore solutions, develop connections and identify accessible services for them.
Mobile Outreach Service
- This program provides more occasional visits to locations without a village, to engage with grandparent and kinship carers seeking Grandcarers SA support.
Education and Development Fund Program
- This program was developed to assist grandparent and kinship carers who receive minimal financial support to provide the children in their care with the resources to enhance their schooling and the opportunity to develop physically, emotionally and culturally through extra-curricular activity alongside their peers.
- Limited funding amounts are available for education and extra-curricular development pursuits for the children and young people in the care of extended family through the generosity of various grants and benefactors.
